Stonehaven is a small town with picturesque harbour. The impressive Dunnottar Castle, where the Scottish Crown Jewels were held secure, is on the outskirts of the town. Situated dramatically on the cliff edge, the castle was used in the film 'Hamlet' starring Mel Gibson and directed by Franco Zeffirelli. It is about a 30 minute walk and a 5 minute drive from our guest house.
